"Real-life guitar hero Carlos Santana will make his way down under next year for a string of shows around the country."Perth's summer of music just keeps on getting bigger, with news announced today that one of the greatest guitarists of our time, Carlos Santana, will play at the Sandalford Estate in the Swan Valley.
Santana, who has sold more than 90 million records and played in front of more than 100 million people worldwide, will kick off his Australia/New Zealand Guitar Heaven tour in WA's popular wine region in March.
With his musical fusion of Latin rock, blues, soul and jazz, Santana has created his own style which transcends genre typecasting.
To date the Mexican-American guitar wizard has won 10 Grammy Awards and in 1998 he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
At the tour he will show off his latest album Guitar Heaven ... The Greatest Guitar Classics Of All Time, which was released in September.
With the album debuting in the top 10 of the Billboard chart, Santana joins the Rolling Stones as the only musical act in chart history to score at least one top 10 album every decade beginning with the 60s.
The album features the who's who of the world's best vocalists to perform on every track.
Musicians appearing on the album range from former Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell, acclaimed cellist Yo Yo Ma to rapper Nas and veteran rocker Joe Cocker.
Tickets for the show on Sunday, March 13 go on sale Thursday, December 9.
