Every Guitarist Builds A 'House,' How Do You Build Yours?

An elderly carpenter was ready to retire. He told his employer-contractor of his plans to leave the house-building business to live a more leisurely life with his wife and enjoy his extended family. He would miss the paycheck each week, but he wanted to retire. They could get by.

The contractor was sorry to see his good worker go & asked if he could build just one more house as a personal favor. The carpenter said yes, but over time it was easy to see that his heart was not in his work. He resorted to shoddy workmanship and used inferior materials.

It was an unfortunate way to end a dedicated career.

When the carpenter finished his work, his employer came to inspect the house. Then he handed the front-door key to the carpenter and said, "This is your house... my gift to you."

The carpenter was shocked!

What a shame! If he had only known he was building his own house, he would have done it all so differently.

So it is with us. We build our lives, a day at a time, often putting less than our best into the building. Then, with a shock, we realize we have to live in the house we have built. If we could do it over, we would do it much differently.

But, you cannot go back. You are the carpenter, and every day you hammer a nail, place a board, or erect a wall. Someone once said, "Life is a do-it-yourself project." Your attitude, and the choices you make today, help build the "house" you will live in tomorrow.

Therefore, Build wisely!
Build your belief in yourself & your guitar playing the right way.

Guitar & The Art Of Love

To fight and conquer in all your battles is not supreme excellence; supreme excellence consists in breaking the enemy's resistance without fighting.
- Sun Tzu, the Art of War

This is about your guitar playing. But first...
Can you still remember the feeling when you first fell in love?

I can't really remember my first time so clearly & I think that's because my senses
are pointing at my most recent war with love.

The first time we met, everything just started to connect.
We were always together. But just as friends...

Flashback... I fought the feeling at first 'coz I didn't want to get hurt.

Hers was a face that many would chase after. She was 30 and I was 23.
Her social circle was of the powerful & rich.
I was not the type that her parents would approve of.
I was just starting out with my life.
She was elusive... but somehow, she noticed me, and that eventually evolved into something bigger.
She was a beauty queen... generous & true...

So true about what she feels that the projection could really hurt.

I've been hurt by her so bad that
I never thought it possible that someone could make me feel that way.

In all honesty, I don't know if we'd end up 'really together'.

But I love her... And even with battle scars, I still do. Give her all that I've got. Protect her at all cost. Still give a kick in the butt... But with just love. But our story, is just another story...

The love of music... and speaking in our case, the love of music through guitar is somewhat the same.

You feel the urge to fight it so you would not get hurt. You end up doing it anyway but with trials, you get scarred instead. You are unsure of where it will take you. But you know what you want.

Fight for it.
Because at the end of the day,
keep in mind that all things are rewarded - good or bad.

I hope that as you are reading this, a spark of love could be awakened.
A hopeful inspiration that giving is the path to receiving. Give yourself time to enjoy your guitar practice & playing. Remember love. Remember how it changed your world. Appreciate it. Share more of it. Get the thrill out of it.

Get the feeling and it will reflect in your music.

Be inspired with love.

Sing an intimate song to your love one, even with a
frog's voice... (candle light to compensate?)
Write a song etc...

The point of playing is Love.
I hope you don't forget that 'coz even the strong ones
fall in the pit but still rise back.

The point of it all... is the art of Love.

How To Stand Out From The Crowd - The Guitarist Eating Bear

Artists that stand out from the crowd have pretty
straightforward approach to success.

It’s really just a matter of
being willing to do what the person next to you will not.

Have you heard of the two friends who went camping and
had a bear come charging out of the woods at them?

As one of them turned to run the other bent down to take off
his boots and put some tennis shoes on.

“Are you insane?!” the other friend said, “that bear’s going to eat us!”

“You don’t understand,” the other one replied. “All I have to do to not get eaten
is run just a little bit faster than you.”

Now that's a nice friend! =)

But the moral of the story is simple and true.

Getting to the top 1-3% in ANY endeavor is really just a
matter of being willing to do a little bit more than everyone else.

Whether that’s being chosen to be the guitarist in a band during an audition or trying to get a name & recognition for yourself or team you are working with.

Sounds pretty simple right? And yet amazingly, the majority of people
who fail still wonder why they fail.

Doing more than everyone else doesn’t just mean simply working harder though.
It can also mean learning new things, letting go of preconceived ideas, embracing your uniqueness & keeping an open mind.

With the advent of information technology, more & more guitarists/artists
are being recognized and appreciated by others for what they do.
More & more are also wanting to learn the secrets of becoming a guitar
god etc. many of whom will want a quick and easy solution.

But only the people who are willing to go the extra mile will reap huge rewards.

This means being brave enough to be unique and be yourself.

Things like developing your own style, character, philosophy, approach
to your guitar playing and making your own materials.

You can achieve the level of playing that you want by yourself, but
if you truly want to build your DREAM, you’ll need to know yourself
better & get yourself equipped mentally, emotionally & to some degree spiritually.

One material that could help you on that process is
'Guitar Dust Off: Practical How To's & Empowering Attitudes on Practice & Motivation.'

This material does not showcase technical skills or anything related but to
the concept that allows you to conquer them.

If you there's a part in you that values dreams, you have to be willing to
leave your comfort zone and embrace yourself to give a step further than others would do.

This is very difficult to do if you don’t have a strong internal core.

But just remember: Principles that leads to success never change.
And these are what you'll find at 'Guitar Dust Off: Practical How To's & Empowering Attitudes on Practice & Motivation.'

If you want to learn the principles of developing a strong internal core that allows you to handle any situation and successfully navigate the sometimes rough waters of being an musician...

This material will help you do that:
Guitar Dust Off

To Your Success,

Paul Trajano
A simple friend who roots for your success

Why Be The Musician That You Want To Be

I was 16 then and about to enter college.

"What course will you be taking in college?" my cousin asked.

I said
"I don't know. Whatever my family feel is right for me."

Then she said
"Why not take what you want?"

"I don't feel like I’m entitled to it," I replied.

"If I were you, I'd take what I want. I've been there you know, and it took me painful, long years before things made sense to me." She answered.

I didn't really understand what she meant.

It's been five years & I never really thought about that, until now...

I knew there was something about playing music that attracted me but I have a very blurry image of what I wanted that time.
WHY? Because I never really asked myself.
WHY? Because I was not comfortable thinking about it.
WHY? Because I thought I don't deserve it.
WHY? Because I thought I have responsibilities for my family, and thinking about what I want, maybe is selfish.
WHY? Because I thought I can never help others if I did what I wanted, so why bother think about it.

Now where did that "crappy" belief system come from?!

I'd be lying if I told you I knew exactly where.
It's not easy as answering "1+1=?" you know.
Why am I even asking about where?
It’s pointless.

Then what do I think about now?

Hmmmm...

"What if..."

Oh no! It's the dreaded question.
Maybe out of regret, or out of inspiration.

I'd just be boring you if I stated all my "what ifs..."
I just don't see the point bickering about it.

Cut off all the bull crap,
Here's what I have to say instead.

I'm a character in this world;
and so are other people.
That makes You a character in this world too.

And as characters, we play our roles.
What better way of living than playing a role that you truly want.

Now, think about it
Wouldn't you act out in a best actor/actress level if you were playing the role you wanted?
I know I would.

And who would get rewarded for a best actor/actress level performance?
It's you --- playing the role you have always wanted.

The truth now is you become generous when you do & play the role that what you want.

You become happy when you see a great movie, with great plot, script, actors and actresses right?
Personally, I get inspired.

People appreciate great movies because people behind it made it with passion.
And passion comes out with doing what you want.
That is true with great music, art, poetry, life story, book, personality & anything under the sun.

So, now, I shift my belief system.
I feel free to ask the "universe" what I want to become. That way I could give & receive more.

As what my friend Jhoanne quoted to me from the best selling author Elizabeth Gilbert:

“You’re a part of this universe… you’re a constituent. You have every entitlement to participate in the actions of the universe and to let your feelings be known. So put your opinion out there. Make your case. Believe me, it will at least be taken into consideration.”

We are characters in this universe, and we have all the rights to play the role we want.
It's the path to generosity, not for ourselves alone but for others as well.

That is why you should cut off the bull crap belief systems and start to feel free to be the great musician you want to be.
